Meet Tanja Skoglund – photographer, storyteller, adventurer

Hey, I’m Tanja!

If you’ve landed here because something in my photos stirred your heart – welcome. Or maybe the Universe brought you here for a reason. Either way, I’m really glad you’re here.

I’m the photographer behind TS Foto Design – a full-time dream-chaser, mountain lover, and your go-to guide for wild love stories in Norway and beyond.

Based in Alta, Northern Norway, I specialize in elopements and intimate weddings that are raw, real, and deeply you. I believe that your wedding day should feel like freedom – not a performance. And I’m here to help you craft a once-in-a-lifetime experience that’s all about what you two love most.

But let me back up a little….

How it all started

I’ve always been someone who follows her heart. If something didn’t feel right – a book, a job, a city or even a person – I let it go.
I trusted that life had something better in store for me.

I’ve booked last-minute flights to see the people I love, not knowing what would happen next – only that it mattered here and now. That’s how I ended up in Norway – a place I never planned to move to, never even dreamed of, but something inside me said “yes.” So I listened. And stayed (that was back in 2010).

Photography has been with me since I was young – always there, always calling. But life led me through a bunch of other paths first. I worked as a mining engineer for seven years – solving problems, managing risks. That job was stable, logical, and it taught me a lot. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t my path forever. There was something else calling me. I realized I was meant to tell stories. Real ones. With light and emotion and connection.

Ever since I picked up a camera for the first time, I knew I was going to be a photographer one day – when I was “grown up.” So one day, when I hit thirty, I had a moment: “Wait… I am a grown-up now. So if not now, then when?”

That was it. I took the leap. I started my business up here in the north of Norway – in a small town, far from everything familiar. And honestly? I’ve never looked back. This work lights me up in a way nothing else ever has. And I hope you can feel that through every photograph I take.


My Why

I believe in creating experiences that are alive, authentic, and adventurous — just like the people I work with.

To me, photography isn’t just about capturing pretty pictures. It’s about helping you feel fully alive, in a place that takes your breath away, with the person who makes your heart race.

Whether we’re hiking to a remote peak, kayaking under the midnight sun, or witnessing your vows beneath the dancing aurora – I want the photos to bring you back to the feeling every single time.

I see life as wild, magical, and full of limitless possibility. That’s the energy I bring into every elopement: the freedom to dream big, live fully, love deeply – and create something unforgettable.

  • From our first video call with Tanja, we knew she was the right photographer for our elopement. We wanted to elope in winter to a mountain top and see the northern lights. Although Tanja did say we might not see the northern lights we were lucky enough to on a few nights and even capture some photos. Tanja planned the perfect itinerary for us based on our wishes and met us in person when we arrived in Alta to go through the details. When our wedding day arrived, it was better than our wildest dreams and the photos captured everything!   • I wish we could give more than 5 stars! Planning an elopement to a country we had never been in less than 5 months could have been overwhelming, but Tanja was so helpful in planning our perfect elopement . It ended up being completely stress-free. Tanja helped us find some amazing locations in Sommarøy and Senja. Because of her incredible photography skills, we got a set of photos that were more special than we ever imagined. Tanja also made us feel comfortable in front of the camera – something neither of us normally are.

    Tanja was incredibly helpful with logistics for the wedding day, including recommending an excellent hair and makeup stylist, confirming ferry times, and adjusting plans when last-minute road work impacted some of our plans. Most of all, Tanja is super friendly and was a great companion for our special day!

  • Tanja is THE BEST! Seriously, AMAZING.

    We decided to elope in Northern Norway, and Tanja helped all of it come true in only 4 months of planning! She made us feel extremely comfortable throughout the whole process. She understood exactly what we wanted our day(s) to look like, and then gave us lots of different options. We were so thankful for how flexible she was throughout the planning process and then during the elopement adventure to make sure we saw the northern lights and got all the pictures we hoped for. By the end of the few days with us, I felt like she was family! With Tanja’s help, we were able to have the most magical couple of days in Alta and an elopement that we will NEVER forget!   • If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. On the first day we arrived to Alta, we met with Tanja to go over details of our wedding. Unfortunately a blizzard and 40 mph winds were forecasted. Tanja was open to rescheduling the ceremony for another day, but we opted to just go for it regardless of the weather. She is fast and sneaky with her cameras and I hardly even noticed her capturing the ceremony! Not only did she go out of her way to accommodate us, but the photos she got were outstanding.

    Our family and friends were blown away and told us they were the most stunning wedding photos they had ever seen. I can’t say enough good things about Tanja, her photography style, and her work ethic. We want to see the Lofoten Islands for our 5 year anniversary and hope to book her again!

  • I can’t thank Tanja enough for making my dream surprise proposal under the Northern Lights a reality. When showing photos to other people, I keep hearing one of three things: a) Is this real? b) This is the best proposal photo I’ve ever seen c) You have ruined things for your younger brothers because they’ll never be able to live up to this. Those reactions should tell you all you need to know about Tanja’s skills!

    But I want to say more! For years I had a vision of proposing under the Northern Lights. I had been searching all over Scandinavia for photographers who would be able to help, but none really fit the bill until I finally found Tanja. She worked with me for 5+ months on planning the trip, giving me tons of info on everything I needed. I eventually decided to come to her home base in Alta, and my fiancé and I both loved the whole experience!

  • We had the pleasure of working with Tanja at our elopement in Loen, Norway. From the beginning, Tanja has been very intentional in delivering a personalized experience. We let her know what types of sceneries/moments we were looking to capture (for us it was fjords and wildlife, intimate wedding ceremony, boat ride and skylift).

    Tanja scouted some great locations and each of these places were perfect for what we described. Tanja went above and beyond in helping me find a bridal bouquet and a wedding cake for the day of our elopement. Working with her truly made the day much more enjoyable as we didn’t have to stress over the logistics and got to focus on each other, our elopement, and the beautiful scenery. We highly recommend Tanja in her photography, professionalism, and kindness!
