Imagine standing hand-in-hand under a sky alive with green and purple auroras, wrapped in the magic of the Arctic night. A Northern Lights wedding is more than a ceremony – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and you deserve for it to be planned, captured, and curated with the same awe and care it inspires. That’s exactly what I offer through my exclusive Northern lights wedding packages in Norway.
The Northern lights…
… are one of the most elusive and awe-inspiring natural wonders on Earth. Only a handful of places in the world lie within the auroral zone – and Northern Norway is one of the most accessible and reliable spots to witness them. Just seeing the aurora dance across the sky is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for many. Now imagine experiencing that wonder on your wedding day. It’s not just beautiful – it’s profound. A Northern Lights elopement isn’t something you stumble upon… it’s something you choose with intention, and remember forever.
Why choose Northern Norway for your aurora borealis wedding?
The further north you go, the stronger and more frequent the auroras. Northern Norway offers some of the world’s best locations for a winter wedding with the Northern Lights as part of the adventure. Some of the best locations:
- Alta
- Tromsø
- Lyngen Alps
- Lofoten islands
- Senja island
Each destination combines raw, breathtaking landscapes with reliable winter infrastructure – meaning cozy lodges, outdoor activities, and easy access to wild, beautiful nature.

Best time for a Northern Lights wedding
The aurora season in Norway runs from mid-September to late March. However, for the best overall experience, I recommend avoiding the darkest part of the polar night (around November 15 to January 20). During that period, daylight is limited to a dusky glow – magical, yes, but if it’s your first time visiting Norway, you may want to explore the scenery in full daylight too!

Hi! I’m Tanja!
Your photographer, local guide and planning partner
I’m an elopement photographer based in Alta, Northern Norway – right in the heart of the aurora zone. But I don’t just take photos. I specialize exclusively in Northern Lights elopements and help couples from around the world create unforgettable Arctic wedding experiences. With me, you don’t have to worry about logistics, timing, or chasing the aurora on your own. I take care of every detail so you can relax and soak in every moment. Here’s what you can expect from my Northern lights wedding packages.

How Northern Lights wedding packages work
Because the aurora is unpredictable, my Northern lights wedding packages are designed with maximum flexibility. Here’s the magic formula:

- Choose a window of 3-5 (or more) days for your trip where you’ll stay in the same location in Norway.
- We’ll set a flexible window of 3 days around your desired date.
- As your wedding approaches, I’ll monitor both aurora activity and weather forecasts daily.
- We pick the best day for your ceremony and aurora chase, ensuring the greatest chance for an unforgettable night!
- This flexible approach gives you several chances to catch the Northern Lights – and frees you from the stress of trying to “time it perfectly.”
Even if the aurora doesn’t show up
While the Northern Lights are a huge part of this adventure, your wedding day will be incredible no matter what. I recommend holding your ceremony during daylight – in a snowy forest, by dramatic mountains, or by the fjord and saving the evening for chasing auroras.
If the aurora stays hidden, we focus on epic winter activities, heartfelt moments, and cozy celebrations instead. Your story will still be filled with unforgettable memories and breathtaking photos.
