Maybe you’ve always been dreaming to go to Norway one day and now decided to combine this trip with your elopement plans. Or maybe you’ve been searching for places to elope, and you fell in love with Norway? Regardless what your answer is, I promise you: Norway is epic and so so so amazing! And I’m going to share some ideas on where to elope in Norway.
Where in Norway can you elope?
The answer is: almost anywhere. In Norway, there is a freedom to roam – the right allowing you to enjoy great outdoors as long as you show respect for the nature. On one hand, it gives you a huge variety of places to choose from. On the other hand, it can be overwhelming too. So why not to ask someone local who has scouted many different locations and knows pros and cons for many of them?
First, define what you wish for your elopement day
What is it about Norway that attracted you the most? Is it peaky mountains, narrow fjords or waterfalls? Or maybe views of old charming fisherman villages? Or blue alpine lakes and glaciers? Everything is possible in this amazing country. But I want you to envision what does YOUR heart desire for YOUR awesome adventure elopement?
Usually, you can explore many different locations on your elopement day. Therefore you can often combine several wishes, so that you’ll get the most out of your adventurous day. But the most epic places (maybe even those you’ve fallen in love with) are often the most popular too. That’s why there can be crowds of tourists – especially during specific seasons and times of the day. We’re going to try to find time slots when these places are less crowded or even empty. Maybe even better – we’ll find more secluded locations that will give you the privacy and intimate feeling you’ve been wishing for your special day!
My first advice: no matter where you choose to go, rent a car! It’ll give you a ton of flexibility and allow you to explore a lot of areas around on your own. This is especially important in small places! Some of the places may seem to be hard to get to, but I promise you: all places I suggested below are really worth checking! Most likely, the best solution is to fly to a bigger town nearby, then drive to whatever place you choose. P.S: when you decided on your elopement location, I can help you to find the best travel route there! Let’s start exploring Norway together!
Pretty much at the end of the world – Sørøya island
One of the most amazing places to elope in Norway, yet – one of the most secluded ones – is an island far away in the North – it’s called Sørøya island. Raw, beautiful, off the beaten path and so unique! You can get there by the car+ferry or fly from Oslo (there is an airport on the island).

Alta
One of the “bigger cities” in the Northern part of Norway. My home. Meaning I’m available here pretty much all year round without any additional travel fee. We’ve got tons of hidden gems here, and especially it’s a great place for winter adventures! There is a direct flight from Oslo to Alta, so pretty easy to get here.

Lyngen alps (Lyngsalpene)
This place is a pure paradise if you want to elope in Norway! Jaw-dropping landscapes with peaky mountains, glaciers, stunning alpine lakes and epic sea views. Not the easiest place to get to, but you can drive there from Tromsø or combine driving with a ferry (ca. 2 hours drive each way).

Tromsø
The biggest town in Northern Norway (population ca. 76.000 people – just for the reference). Here you’ll get a feeling of a “city life” (sort of, depending on where you’re coming from). But if you drive outside of town, you’ll find pretty amazing landscapes and a few secluded spots! And there is a direct flight from Oslo!

Senja island
Some places on earth are just amazing, and Senja is for sure one of them! I love the variety of amazing landscapes Senja has to offer and tons of adventurous hiking trails! You’ll love this place! No airports on the island, but there is a bridge from the mainland, so you can drive here. Or you can fly to one of the airports nearby (2 hours drive from Bardufoss, and there is a direct flight from Oslo to Bardufoss. Or fly directly to Tromsø and take a drive of ca. 3 hours to Senja).

Vesterålen
A beautiful gem hidden between Senja and Lofoten, offering great landscapes and more privacy than other popular places. You can combine your trip to Vesterålen with other places you’ll visit in Northern Norway. Perfect for you who prefer smaller places and love the charm of fishing villages of Norway. There is an airport in Vesterålen (Stokmarknes), but you can also fly to a bigger town (for example, Harstad), then drive a car to Vesterålen.
Lofoten
Another paradise on earth! Probably, the number one request for elopements in Norway. Such a stunning place to visit and explore which I totally recommend to consider! Many amazing hiking trails, peaky mountains, turquoise sea, white beaches – Lofoten is truly epic! You can fly to Leknes (via Bodø) from Oslo, or fly to Bodø and take a ferry straight to Lofoten.
By the way, all the places I mentioned above are located in Northern Norway – this is where you can see the Northern lights (season for that is October-March).

Where to elope in Western Norway? First great place to mention – Averøy
A tiny place near Molde (with a direct flight from Oslo), and the legendary Atlantic ocean road. There is so much great scenery here! But remember that the weather in Western Norway is changing fairly often. Therefore, be prepared for anything!

Geirangerfjord
One of the most epic places in Norway, the one for the bucket list of any travel-lover. Giant waterfalls, giant mountains, an unforgettable overall experience that you’ll love. If you’re visiting Norway for the sake of seeing great fjords, Geirangerfjord is one of the places to go. Take a direct flight from Oslo to Ålesund, and drive the car among epic scenery.

Loen
If you like beautiful lakes with turquoise water surrounded by stunning mountains, that’s the perfect place for your elopement! The water is coming from the glaciers in the mountains nearby. There are plenty of gorgeous views around these places! You’ll have an unforgettable trip if you combine it with Geirangerfjord (the travel route is similar: fly to Ålesund and then drive).

Aurland – another epic place to elope by the fjords of Norway
Want to see some more amazing fjords of Norway? That’s the place to go! Nærøyfjord (along with the Geirangerfjord) is added to UNESCO’s world heritage site; and it’s the world’s most narrow fjord. Just imagine to elope in a place like that! Totally recommend you to take a boat trip and enjoy epic scenery from the water. Only 2,5 hours drive from Bergen (and there is a direct flight Oslo-Bergen if need be).
